Head of Teen Services

The Byron Public Library District is seeking a dynamic leader to be its very first Head of Teen Services. We are looking for someone with a strong passion for providing top-notch programs and services for teens ages 12-18, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities.  An exemplary commitment to customer service is a must. This is a great opportunity to start from scratch and make a real difference in the lives of Byron’s teens.  Reports to the Director.


40 hours per week—includes approximately two evenings per week and occasional weekends for special events


$41,000-$47,000 depending on education and experience; IMRF, health/dental/life insurance, vacation, sick leave, and holidays.


ALA-accredited MLIS required. Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to and ability to operate an insured vehicle.


Plans and implements programs for youth ages 12-18 or supervises others to achieve this goal; selects and orders teen materials including books, music, and electronic resources; adheres to a budget; plans and oversees outreach to area schools and other organizations that serve youth; coordinates the Summer Reading Program and related activities; coordinates public relations/marketing efforts; keeps statistics; supervises teen volunteers; mentors all staff in services for teens.
